The challenge
Networks with more than one router/firewall or uplink/connection are preferably implemented using dynamic routing and other techniques found in finer routers. Since firewalls essentially are routers, but typically lack in routing capabilities, they tend to make networks more complicated and fault-intolerant than necessary.

The solution
Our security router series are firewalls with a strong emphasis on security, correctness and routing. Because they are full-featured routers, they can be used to implement truly elegant, fault-tolerant IP networks with security applied at the routing border.
Larger organizations, enterprises, ISPs and hosting providers use BGP to achieve full inbound and outbound internet redundancy. Our firewalls have a secure, mature BGP implementation with many handy features such as routing domains and extended communities for MPLS VPNs and TCPMD5. They are even used as pure BGP routers by some ISPs. Additionally, they support OSPF (both v2 and v3 which is for iPv6), MPLS and LDP (as a PE router), routing domains (VRFs), equal-cost multi-path routing and much more.
